Reducing Disparities in Health through Nutrition: The Life Course Theory and Model
(Life Course)

The Life Course approach to health care needs emphasizes the role of early events in shaping an individual's health throughout life. This course introduces the Life Course concept and nutritional influences of early life that impact populations, especially areas in which there are disparities. Specifically, the presenter addresses factors including maternal health during pregnancy, parenting style, food availability, and sleep and their impact on obesity and other health threats. In addition, the course addresses ways in which public health workers can reduce health disparities.
